GBRTT lead spells out rail problems to supply chain leaders
- GBRTT's Lead Director Anit Chandarana set out how a new guiding-mind would answer supply chain leaders' call for strategic direction, clear leadership and whole-system thinking
Rail is “too siloed”, “too slow” and “too prescriptive”. The fragmented system we have now hampers value for money and gets in the way of innovation – that’s what businesses told us when we spoke to them over the summer.
In a speech to supply chain leaders on Friday, Great British Railways Transition Team's Lead Director Anit Chandarana spelled out why this is a problem for rail, given the industry’s financial position.
He set out how a new guiding-mind would answer their call for strategic direction, clear leadership and whole-system thinking, by:
- Bringing industry costs and revenue together
- Adopting a more co-ordinated and coherent approach to solving industry issues
- Thinking strategically and for the longer term
- Creating the right competitive conditions.
Thanks to the Railway Industry Association for inviting us to join their annual conference. We look forward to continuing the conversation.
