Say yellow to the Bee Network
Helping to build an integrated transport network in Manchester
New GBRTT Interim Lead Director, Rufus Boyd, met with Transport Commissioner Vernon Everitt and Head of Rail Simon Elliott (pictured here with Rufus), on the day that Transport for Greater Manchester took control of their new fleet of yellow buses. After the meeting, Simon took Rufus out on the local rail network to visit Oxford Road and Deansgate stations.
Rufus said: “It was a great introduction and to hear first hand how they are delivering on the ground in Manchester. And to understand that this is just the first step in the long term ambition towards an integrated transport system across the Bee Network.
Rail is also playing its part with a new partnership between Great British Railways Transition Team and Transport for Greater Manchester. The roll-out of 'pay as you go' technology through the Contactless 2025 railway ticketing pilot is one of a number of initiatives.
This will mean that rail will be added to the growing number of places that passengers in Manchester can tap-in and tap-out through integrated ticketing.
